Mochila Project - Wayuu Tribe

Thursday, June 23, 2011

These Mochila bags are made by the indigenous Wayuu Tribe of Columbia and Venezuela. The bags are incredibly labor intensive and can take up to 250 hours of handcrafted precision to produce. Stores like J.Crew and Barney's New York are now selling the bags, but they can't seem to get enough. I recommend buying from the Wayuu tribe direct, (here) so that a portion of the sale goes back to their tribe.
